The Skeena
These have not been ideal times to see live music. But it’s still possible to appreciate the amazing musical talent that exists across the Skeena–with a little creativity of course.
Case in point: this recent fiddling performance posted by the Métis Nation British Columbia that was recorded in a Prince Rupert living room. “We’re gonna do some Métis tunes,” says one of the performers. “It’s kind of a sad day and a proud day to be a Métis.”
The songs in this video were played to commemorate November 16, the day that Métis leader, Louis Riel, was executed at the headquarters of the North West Mounted Police on the orders of the John A. Macdonald government in Ottawa.
