There’s a lot of bad news in the world right now, but I think we can all agree that the services performed by Kitimat Fire and Ambulance deserve celebrating.
A specific member of the organization is currently being singled out for praise.
“Today we recognize Firefighter Dan Jerrett for 10 years of service,” reads a recent Facebook post from Kitimat Firefighter Paramedics-IAFF Local 1304. “Let’s show our support and appreciation for all the contributions Dan has made to the fire department, its members, and the community. Congratulations and thank you.”
The Kitimat fire department has a unique set-up where all members work as firefighters and paramedics.
“Remarkably,” reads a 2015 article, “the Kitimat fire station fields an average of 80 medical calls a month and approximately 250 fire and rescue calls each year.” Justin Medeiros, President of the Kitimat Firefighters Association confirmed that they have been doing “250+ ambulance calls per month now.”
Jerrett also has experience “battling the wild fires devastating the interior,” as a 2017 article in the Northern Sentinel explains.
Praise is pouring in for him on Facebook. “Way to go Dan!!” one person wrote.
